1.Art criticism proccess: 1. Describe, analyze, interpret, and judge 2. critique: This was a stylized self portrait I made at the beginning of the semester. Its done in marker and pen. It was made for fun and doesn't have too much meaning behind it. I feel I did decent on proportions, although the hands do look a little odd and the heads kinda big. the hatching shading I did in pen is pretty sloppy, and kind of hard to tell whether its a detail on the drawing or shading. Some lines feels out of place and the coloring w/ marker isn't the best in some places 1. Is copying always plagiarism or is there a gray area? Explain your thoughts. I feel like it depends on the the context and how much is copied, for example if someone where to copy every detail of a piece and claim it as their own, that would be plagiarism. On the other hand, if your copying a theme color pallet or an idea, thats perfectly fine. Another good example is poses, your recommended to use references when drawing people so copying off of an already existing picture is necessary. ( I used this picture here because I somewhat copied another piece, changing the arms and adding color Q2. What are some reasons why artists make art?
Some people make art as a medium to tell a story or idea that other mediums cant as well. Some artist do it for entertainment, like a comic or animation. Other artist make it to make a statement, simialr to propaganda or advertising. Q3. What is artistic style? Someones art style is the way the draw things. For example, one person may draw draw a person with exaggerated feature, thats their style. Someone else may draw a person really simplified with only a few distinct features. this also applies to how they color their pieces; maybe theres no color, or theres a tint of blue on everything. How Would a different style of shading affect how the piece looks?
